Decided to make my character 11 years old actually, as it turns out it's the age of 11 that has the Nectar ceremony
Just going to write in 1st person because why not
It was my 11th birthday yesterday (actually my real 13th birthday yesterday), symbolizing the approach of the stressful Nectar ceremony. Since I was poor, and didn't have much money, my formal clothes for the ceremony were not as flashy or adorned as other more wealthy families. All I had was a black shirt, dark blue jeans, and black combat boots which I stole from a store the other day. I also held a black bandana a friend had given to me on my 8th birthday and tied it around my arm (similar to Yuto's from Arc-V if you know what I'm talking about.) "Kato!" roared a voice. I spun around. It was my father, overjoyed and ecstatic, which he rarely was.
"It's time to roll!" he hollered again, dragging me outside happily. I stood up and brushed the dust and dirt off my clothes, and we walked to the Ceremony.
There weren't too many people there considering that I didn't hold a very high rank. The audience was composed of my mother, my father, and a few old people dressed in green. They laughed and shared drinks, and I was impatient for the initiation of the Ceremony. I was the only one who was going to be trying to call a spirit animal today, as the kids in my town were mostly younger or far older than me. Hurry up, this is taking forever, I constantly repeated in my mind. Finally, after a long wait, the Ceremony began. "Ladies and gentlemen!" (yuya reference) cried a lady in green. "Here today, before the eyes of man and beast, we are gathered here today to participate in the most sacred rite in all of Erdas. When human and animal unite, their greatness is multiplied. We have come to witness whether the Nectar will reveal such greatness in this young candidate - Kato Duskshadow!" A few weak cheers rang out, but the majority of the audience was either drunk or asleep. What a fantastic day to be doing this, I thought. Then, I was presented a flask by the lady in green. "Good luck, kid," she said. And I sipped the Nectar. A flash of light appeared. And a russet fox stood in the middle of the courtyard. And during this short moment of surprise, I felt my senses sharpen. My eyesight sharpened, muscles tensed, and energy coursed through my veins. But in a few seconds, this was all gone. I looked up at the audience in amazement, expecting to see people clapping, as this was the custom for the summoning of a spirit animal. All I saw though, were my parents and a few Greencloaks cheering. The rest had left or were sleeping on the chairs. You are one lucky guy, mate, the fox said sarcastically. Look, fox, my name's Kato, and I'm not a sailor. Besides, they're technically supposed to be clapping for you, not me, I shot back. My name's Soldier, for your information, and who cares about clapping anyways. It's the efficiency that counts. As long as you can get the job done, you're appreciated, murmured the fox. Focusing back to reality now, I began to take in the fox's greater details. With russet fur, he also had brown eyes too, just like mine. The fox, noticing me, tried to rear up menacingly, puffing out his muscles and chest. To me, honestly, he looked more like a stuffed chew toy with his size.
kind of a cliffhanger but I didn't know what to really write after that
