Btw, I'm adding that Lilly has asthma.
I was walking through the streets of my city, Verona, Italy, and talking to people as I passed by. Before you ask, yes. I am a guardian, but unlike the other guardians, I don't try to hide from my people. Everyone who lived in Verona at that time knew of me being their city's guardian and they knew of my wings, as well. Most of them were pretty accepting of me, but there were a couple who didn't really seem to like me.
Right now, most of the people were wishing me luck on my journey to New York to meet with some of the other guardians. I was going to leave tonight and a lot of them seemed worried for me, especially the kids.
"Do you have to go, Lilly?" One of the kids, Luca, asked. He was the one who looked up to me the most and felt like a little brother to me.
"Don't worry, Luca. I'll be back before you know it. I promise." I replied with a smile as I ruffled his somewhat curly, black hair. He giggled.
"I hope so. You'll give me a fly-ride when you come back, right?" I chuckled and nodded in response.
Later, when I got back to the house I lived in with my host family -- Luca's family -- Luca's mother greeted me and gave me a checklist of what to pack for my trip.
"Now, don't forget to pack your medicine and inhaler. You remember what happened last time you didn't have those?" She said, sounding like a worried mother. I chuckled.
"I know, I know. I won't leave without them."
"And try not to push yourself too hard, okay?"
"I'll try. I can't promise that I won't, though. But, I'll be fine! I'll have other guardians with me!"
It continued on like that until my packing was finished and by then it was starting to get dark outside. I decided to take a little nap on the couch before heading out on my trip.
"Lilly! Lilly! Wake up!" I woke to the sound of Luca's voice and opened my eyes to see him looking down at me.
"Huh..? What time is it..?" I murmured as I sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes.
"It's 10:00. Isn't that when you said you were gonna go?" He asked, though he looked a little sad. I stood up quickly.
"Oh! Thanks for waking me up, Luca. Don't worry, I'll be back soon." I told him, smiling and ruffling his hair again. I grabbed my backpack and put it on, then I walked to the door and opened it.
"Ciao!" I said, smiling and waving at Luca and his mother, before I took off into the night sky to meet the other guardians in New York.
