I stumbled into the gymnasium and looked around at the semi-controlled chaos. Marvelled by the size of the room, I was stunned and stopped walking for a second. The person behind me elbowed past, clearly irritated, and cut right in front of me. Well, excuse me, I thought. They had crimson hair styled in a quiff, and I absolutely loved it. Too bad they were rude.
I moved around a large group of people clogging up the area and could finally see. There were twelve tables, all mahogany. Each one had a sign which shouted out the zodiac sign it was intended for; I quickly spotting the one yelling, “PISCES” and got in line.
There was one man at this table. He looked Hispanic, maybe in his early- to mid-twenties, and was kind of short, though he was slouching rather notcieably, so perhaps that had something to do with it. His tired brown eyes showed that he’d been doing this for quite a while, his dark hair a mess.
When it was my turn, I stepped up. A white binder, packed with papers, lay open on the table in front of him.
“Oh, thank God, that should be easy. Not many ‘W’s.”
I managed a small smile as the man flipped through the binder to find the section he needed. He came to it, found my name quite quickly, and ripped the sheet of paper out before handing it to me.
“Thank you, sir. Um, where am I supposed to go?”
“Oh, right, sorry. Head to your dorm and wait for the announcements.”
I walked away from the table and found a clear spot on the cream-coloured wall. I leaned against it and looked down at my information. I was in dorm number 7, with Alanna Smith and Hikaru Selenetic, and whoever they were, they both sounded like girls. Great.
I followed a series of signs that lead me out of the building and into a courtyard. In the middle of a lucious green field sat a fountain, and it was surrounded by three other buildings, not counting the one I’d just come out of. I found more signs pointing toward the building all the way across the campus. It was rather homey looking and painted baby blue.
I burst into it and sighed in relief. There were significantly less people here. I found dorm 7 fairly quickly and opened the door, revealing a tan girl with dark auburn hair.
“Who are you?”
I shoved past a tall boy with dark hair and elbowed my way through a thick group of people, all conversing rather loudly. A table marked as Taurus only had one other person in line at the moment. A small girl with long, curly black hair. I wondered who she was.
A few minutes later, I had my information and was heading to the dorm building. Arrows marked my path so I didn’t get lost in this goliath of a school. I entered dorm 502 after climbing a few flights of stairs and was relieved to see that I was the first one.
I threw my backpack onto the top bunk near a window and sighed, waiting for my roommates to arrive.
NOTE: The students don’t need to bring anything to the school, really, as it is near a mall. They can bring a few of their belongings if they’d wish, but they don’t need to. The mall has every shop you can imagine, and the students do get an allowance. They can spend up to $300 a week (it does carry over), and they get their own little card at registration. The first week, though, they have $600 to cover clothing and school supplies.
