June walked along the sidewalk with a dark expression. Today hadn't started out great, with her parents fighting once again, and she accidentally stabbed her finger while she was trying to mend a button on her favorite shirt.
She had managed to fix the shirt, but skipped breakfast. Her phone buzzed in her purge, and June immediately reached down to respond to the supposed text.
Instead of a text, it was a reminder. That girl named Goldie, it read, She invited you to her birthday party. You should go.
"I don’t remember saving this..." she said out loud, and Musicca sudden whipped out of her purse.
"Don’t be such a grump!" Musicca barked. "You'll just make yourself feel worse!"
June rolled her eyes as she slid into an alley. "I'm fine," June said. "It's just a stupid party..."
Musicca flew right up to June's cheek and slapped her. "CHIN UP, SUGAR, WE'RE GOING WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT."
June groaned. "Fine. But I don’t have a gift or—"
"BUY HER A GIFTCARD!"
June screamed in exasperation. "Fine!"
She stomped down the pavement as Musicca barked instructions, as they ignored the pedestrians that gave them weird looks as they continued to walk. Musicca was yelling from June's purse as they approached the pastel blue house.
"NOW, GO IN!" Musicca yelled, and then swished the purse close as June rang the doorbell.
