Dean walked in to the cafeteria, and sat down next to me.
“Hey Riley.” He said, while settling in the seat next to me. “What’s up?”
“Nothing much.” I said.
“Good.” Dean leaned towards me. My cheeks felt hot, and I hoped he wouldn't notice.
“I need your help with something.” he whispered.
A few hours later, we were outside of Lila's house. I laid the last candle on the ground, and wiped a tear from my eye. I gave Dean a thumbs-up, and then ran to hide behind a bush. My eyes followed Dean as he walked up the stairs and rang the doorbell. Lila answered, and Dean showed her what we set up.
The candles glowed brightly, as the sun had set an hour ago. All together, they spelled, Will you go out with me? When Lila saw it, she smiled and hugged Dean. They kissed, and I ran off before they could see the tears streaming down my face.
