I sat and waited for forever, but no one was coming in. Curious, I peeked outside the door and was met with a mass of angry people. They pushed through the doors and grabbed me, dragging me back to the stage. I heard someone yelling "How do you turn off this thing?" Then a shock ripped through my body, shutting me down for the second time in two days.
I opened my eyes and felt...shorter. I looked down, expecting to see fur and claws, but saw clothes. I held up my paw— no, hand in front of my face. What's happening? Am I dreaming? My thoughts gave way to a feeling of panic as I started looking at my surroundings.
It was the pizza place, but newer. I looked around frantically. It was obviously nighttime and no one was there. I started to run through the familiar halls, searching for someone to help me.
The familiar smell of lemon candy made me slow and peek into a room. It was the candy supply room, where they bagged the sweets to be sold. There was someone inside bagging the lemon flavored candy I knew so well. I stepped into the room and opened my mouth to say something when the door clicked shut behind me. The figure turned quickly and lunged toward me, I felt a searing pain in my chest and then everything went black.
I woke up for real this time, my mind a haze of fear and confusion. My chest still felt strange, and I put my paw on it. My vision was fuzzy, but I started walking off the stage anyways— and slammed into a clear wall.
My vision focused. The stage was lined with clear panels, blocking any way off. In front of the stage was Lanara and some person in a suit. Both were looking at me after I ran into the wall.
"Anyways, as I was saying, we put these walls up as a safety measure. This robot has gotten increasingly unstable in these past months, and we don't think it's fit to be near children, or anyone for that matter. But we know you have a business to run and these take time and money to make, so these walls are a compromise. They're made out of an unbreakable material, so there's no danger of it breaking free and terrorizing anyone."
Lanara looked angry and ready to square off with the man. "You just shocked my animatronic, I have to check it for damage!"
"No need," the suit replied. "We already had our mechanic check it and install something so we can track its movements."
It was true. My line of sight had cleared;the flickers were gone. I could also almost feel the new software, like someone constantly standing behind me and looking over my shoulder.
Lanara opened her mouth to say something but the man cut her off. "It's either this or we shut the thing off and turn it into scrap." With that, he turned and walked out of the room.
I felt betrayed. I slammed into the wall to test it, and it didn't break. I did it several more times, then gave up and sat down in the middle of the stage.
(Lol sorry it's pretty dramatic but I had too much free time today)
