Sure, Aurelia! She can have a crush on Lillith. ^^
A History of Magic by Bathilda Bagshot. That was the name of the book I was reading when a young woman--one of the orphanage staff members--knocked on my door and came into my room.
"Lillith, you have a visitor." I felt my hopes rise at the thought of another visit from Mistress McGonnagal, but my hopes were soon dashed as she continued, "It's not your usual visitor, though."
She left and the biggest man I'd ever seen came into my room, though he had to duck to get through the doorway.
"Woah! You're so big!! Did you use a spell to get that big or is it natural?" I immediately said the first thing that came to mind and the big man laughed.
"No spell. It's completely natural." He said, then he leaned close to me and whispered "Don't tell anyone, but I'm half giant."
"Half giant!? Really!? That's unusual. But that explains how you're so big." I mused mainly to myself for a moment, then looked back up at him. "What's it like being half giant? You probably have more strength than any human, right? But it could be inconvenient at times, too."
The half-giant laughed again.
"You're quite a curious one, aren't you? Well, there will be plenty of time to talk about that sort of thing later. For now, I'm supposed to take you to Diagon Alley to get your supplies for Hogwarts. I'm Hagrid, by the way." He responded as he ducked out of my room and lead me out of the orphanage. Of course, I grabbed Bonbon, my cat-owl hybrid plushie as I followed him out.
"We're going out. I'll bring him back later." He informed a staff member as we left.
On our way, I asked a lot of questions about Hogwarts and Hagrid that he answered as best he could or was allowed to. By the time we got past the brick wall and into Diagon Alley I had learned a lot about both Hogwarts and Hagrid, including the fact that Hagrid didn't give me my acceptance letter when we were in my room because he saw no reason to. Instead, he just gave me my list of supplies I would need and a decent-sized pouch of coins I had only read about until now.
"Now, you go and get your supplies and meet me at Eelyops Owl Emporium once you're done." Hagrid said and I nodded.
"Yes, sir!" I was practically bursting with excitement as I dashed away, unable to wait any longer to explore Diagon Alley instead of read about it. I first got the clothing items I needed from a store called Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions. The dragonhide gloves were quickly my favorite of those items.
Then I went to Flourish and Blotts next and got all of the books I needed, minus A History of Magic since I already had that one. It took longer than planned to get out of that store, since other books kept catching my eye. The store clerk wouldn't let me buy any books other than the ones on my list, though, which was disappointing.
I then went to Potage's Cauldron Shop, then to Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment, and finally to Ollivander's. When I entered the shop, it was immediately obvious that it was a wand shop as there were individual boxes of wands everywhere. I practically skipped to the counter where an old man--presumably Ollivander--was waiting.
"I'm here to get my first wand, sir!" It was finally time to get the item I was most excited about!
"So, you're another first-year, are you? Alright, let's see here.." He started musing to himself as he began going through some wands on the other side of the room. After a couple minutes, he brought a wand over to me.
"Alder wood, unicorn hair core, 11 inches long, rigid. Give it a twirl." He said, handing the wand to me. I flicked it and a ball of light shot out of the end, causing a bunch of wands and their boxes to fall to the floor. Before I could ask any questions, Ollivander took the wand away from me and went to find a different wand. After literally seven more wands failed to accept me as their master, Ollivander brought another wand that was a creamy, almost white color. Without him even needing to tell me, I grabbed the wand and almost immediately got a warm feeling that told me it was the one.
"That's the one. Pine, dragon heartstring core, 12 1/2 inches, surprisingly swishy... you must be an unpredictably creative one. It's been a long time since it took that long to match a wand to a wizard." He said and after I paid for the wand, I went to meet Hagrid at Eelyops Owl Emporium with Bonbon flying behind me.
