I am so sick of being asked this. Yes, I’m of Asian descent. Yes, you’re free to point that out. No, it is not okay to ask me where I’m “really from” in such a callous and disrespectful manner. For the record, I was born and raised in the United States of America, and I really do not like having that questioned. Yes, I have some pride in my heritage, but no, it’s not the same as being proud of “where I’m from.” Because that would be the US, something that just doesn’t get through to some people.
Ugh, sorry about the mini rant. I can’t sleep, I’m strung out because of it, and I couldn’t properly express my anger at the person who asked me the question in the title.
