His bare fingers skimmed hers, light as a feather, as he bent towards the ground. A soft kiss was placed on the back of her hand, sending lingering chills up her skin. His lips froze for a few seconds longer, which felt like an eternity-until he slid his hand out from under her's and stood back up straight. His mismatched eyes sparked with a hidden electric passion, shining from his ocean colored eye to his dark honey colored one. She felt a blush rise to her porcelain face as she attempted to hold her stone expression. She held full eye contact, a sign of bravery that she will not back down. He would not either.
Light as a feather, his frozen feet barely touched the ground. His quick breaths were silent, as his cautious gaze held to an object for barely a second. The only noise was his dark cloak either crackling in the wind or grabbing hold to a branch to let it go forcefully. He suddenly froze, staring up at the leafy ceiling the forest maintained. He was listening, silently, for a noise that you might not have listened for. His dark eyebrows furrowed under his fluffy messy bangs, as he realized his nightmare had been confirmed. He was surrounded. Twigs cracked in a full circle around him, as he desperately looked for any means of escape. The enemy was growing closer.
A hunt, though he was the prey. A deadly game of tag, though he was not It.
Awakened by an ear-splitting scream, she quickly opened her eyes. The sky was laid out in front of her, a clear beautiful starry night. It was so clear, in fact, that you could see the stardust and the milky way. If only she could marvel in its beauty for much longer than a second. She rolled to her side and pushed her weight up by her arms. The gaping wound in her leg was almost gone unnoticed until the desperate pain rolled back into her mind almost instantly. She turned her head as a girl jumped in front of her view- seconds after a gunshot was heard- and crumpled to the ground. Instantly sound asleep, or at least that's what the girl told herself. Her oversized clothing was torn and crimson, and her blonde hair held in messy braids. In front of her, a battle. A war. A war which had started over power and greed, and was almost ended with hundreds killed.
Her heart ached to tell these people to wake up, to move out of the way to safety. But the words of her commander echoed through her head.
"You are a ruthless machine. Not a child. Take back what was ours."
