most things stem from low self-esteem. things like sleep and performing in social situations. it makes sense why she'd focus on the little things, since the big things are often not the root of the problem and come from the little things. to take out a weed, you don;t hack away at the actual plant, you go for the roots and then work on the plant. sure, you might want to deal with a part of the plant to make dealing with the roots eaiser, but it's not a permanent fix, despite it being much easier and looking better.
besides, if you feel you aren't getting adequate care, switch therapists. their job is to help you get better and if they're not accomplishing that, then they're not doing their job properly.
