Most of the time, therapists will try to get tiny problems out of the way so that they can focus completely on the big issues.

 

Also, no solution will work overnight. It's not very helpful to do one yoga session and then be angry because that one session didn't help with anxiety. It's not fair to be angry just because a solution doesn't work overnight. Your mental illness didn't form overnight, it won't heal overnight either.

most things stem from low self-esteem. things like sleep and performing in social situations. it makes sense why she'd focus on the little things, since the big things are often not the root of the problem and come from the little things. to take out a weed, you don;t hack away at the actual plant, you go for the roots and then work on the plant. sure, you might want to deal with a part of the plant to make dealing with the roots eaiser, but it's not a permanent fix, despite it being much easier and looking better. 

 

besides, if you feel you aren't getting adequate care, switch therapists. their job is to help you get better and if they're not accomplishing that, then they're not doing their job properly.

Like Clev said, Small problems lead to big problems and sometimes taking care of the small problems first helps more then you realize.If you accomplish a small problem first then that can give you a bit of confidence to do the next thing and so on. In sense you're shrinking the big problem. I've done it and it works so trust your therapist and be patient.
