Calling all Greencloaks!
Over the past couple months you guys have given us incredible feedback and suggestions about ways to improve Spirit Animals. One of the most common questions was if you'd be able to play the game with your friends. And so after a lot of hard work, we are SUPER excited to announce that the Spirit Animals Multiplayer Beta is now live on the website!
- What is a Beta? -
Multiplayer is currently in "Beta" which means that while it is playable on the website, we are still hard at work fixing issues and making improvements. The multiplayer component of Spirit Animals is far from done and we have a lot of big plans for it, but we feel that it is really important to get you guys playing as soon as possible, so you can help us make it even better! So expect some issues from time to time while we are still tweaking the multiplayer game, but I think you'll agree that it is a ton of fun!
- What is Spirit Animals Multiplayer? -
Spirit Animals Multiplayer is an wave-based arena version of the Spirit Animals game. You will be able to team up with other Greencloaks and defend Greenhaven Castle from the Conquerors. When you start a multiplayer game you begin at Wave 1. Each wave has a certain number of bile animal enemies and a Super Cool Boss that you will fight at the end. After you complete a wave, you will receive XP, GOLD and ITEMS before moving onto the next wave of enemies. Each wave gets more challenging but the rewards you receive become greater as well. Only one player needs to survive a wave in order for your whole team to advance. So if you are defeated, cheer on your teammates!
- How do I play Multiplayer? -
The Spirit Animals Multiplayer Beta can be found in the quests menu. When you now visit your old friend Olvan, you will see two tabs to the left of the quest board: Single player and Multiplayer. Selecting 'Multiplayer' will bring up the multiplayer lobby.
- How do I join a game / start a game? -
There are two options when you get into the multiplayer lobby: "Join a Team" and "Start a Team".
Clicking "Join a Team" will automatically match you up with other players who are looking to jump into a multiplayer match. Once a game is found you will be placed into that game's lobby. When four players have been found, your match will begin! This is a quick way to jump into a multiplayer match with other Greencloaks.
Clicking "Start a Team" will make you the host of your very own private multiplayer match. As the host you will be able to invite your friends via the "Invite Friends" buttons on the empty player slots. In a private match you don't need 4 players to begin, so whenever you are ready, just click the "Start" button and you're off! You can even play multiplayer by yourself if you like.
- I do I join my friend's game? -
Playing with your friends is very easy! Whoever is the host of the game will start by clicking on "Start a Team" in the multiplayer lobby and then click the "Invite Friends" button to invite their friends. After a host invites you to play, you will receive a notification icon on the right side of your game screen. You will need to have the Spirit Animals game open to receive game notifications but you can be anywhere within the courtyard or your room and still see the invite! For example if you are taking care of your spirit animal in your room and your friend invites you to a game, you will still see the game notification. When you receive a game notification, simply click on the icon. That's it! You'll now be taken to your friends game lobby and will be ready to play!
- Can I chat with my friends in the game? -
We are looking into more elaborate chat features but at the time of the beta launch you will be able to send "quick chats" to players while you are in the game together. If you press down the "C" key on your keyboard you will see a set of messages you can say. Things like "Thank you!" or "Look out!". That kind of stuff. After pressing the "C" key, simply mouse click on the message you want to send. A speech bubble appears above your hero in-game and everyone can see it.
Lots more info to come and we will keep expanding this Help Guide for you guys. Thank you all so much for building such a great Spirit Animals community and helping us make Spirit Animals a success. I'll see you guys in multiplayer :)
Please tell us why you'd like to report this post
